Borrego
The Desert
Hacienda del Sol sits smack in the middle of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in the unpretentious town of Borrego Springs, population 3,429. It’s the only California town that is completely surrounded by a state park, and that’s just one bullet point in Borregos list of bragging rights.
Stargazing
It’s also an official International Dark Sky Community—the first and only one in California—dedicated to protecting the night sky from light pollution. Backyard stargazing parties happen almost every night.

Hiking
One of our favourite hikes is the three-mile Palm Canyon hike – back into the mountains, leading to a palm oasis.
